This Bell blue grey 1958 Studebaker 3E Series Model 3E1 Scotsman 1/2 ton pickup is a fairly complete truck ready to be restored or customized. There were a total of 7,085 Series 3E trucks made in all nine models and it is unknown how many of these trucks were the economy model Scotsman pickup. The truck has excellent dry and rust-free western desert sheet metal. All the glass is good. The right front of the hood and the grill are dented. The front bumper is not stock. The right fender is dented in the front outside of the headlight. The rear corner extensions of the box near the tail lights are dented. There are add-on tail lights and some of them are broken. There are dents in the back of the left rear fender and box. The box side tops and tail gate are dented. The rear panel below the tailgate is dented. The box floor is solid. The left front bottom edge of the box is dented. The rear heavy duty bumper is not stock and is bent down. The are holes in the cab and doors where outside mirrors were mounted. There is a second cut out gas filler hole in the left rear cab. The blue interior is missing the seat, horn button and some dash knobs. The stock gauges are there. There is a key in the ignition switch. Two add-on gauges have been installed in the dash and the left gauge is missing. There is an add-on right-side under-dash radio wired in place. The floor is solid. The Scotsman generally came with a 185 CID L-head 92 HP inline six cylinder motor and three speed column shift transmission. This truck has a 259 CID Studebaker OHV V-8 motor and 4 speed manual floor shift transmission. As the truck appears not to have been a column-shift truck, it may have been ordered this way from the factory or is came with an optional 4 speed transmission and someone installed the V-8. From the addition of the two gauges, it is likely the V-8 is not a factory-installed motor. The motor is complete and it looks like a running. However the actual running and driving condition is unknown. Do not miss this opportunity to restore or customize a hard-to-find 58 Scotsman pickup.
