Desert Classics....Classic and Vintage Vehicle Restoration Services
SORRY WE AM NO LONGER RESTORING VEHICLES.

We are offering our private classic and vintage vehicle restoration services to select DesertClassics customers on a limited basis. The five shop facility, located in southern Idaho, includes a 4 bay and 2 bay mechanical shop, a five bay body and paint shop, a complete automotive upholstery shop and a complete classic and vintage used and new parts department. The shops have a capacity of ten projects at a time.

The restoration services operation is under the direction of our Idaho business associate, who has more than 50 years experience restoring and building classic and vintage cars and trucks. During his career, he as built hundreds of vehicles, ranging from full stock restorations to custom hotrods. Until 2010, the restoration facilities have been used to build vehicles for our personal collections, and for resale through this website. Our operations manager has over 30 years experience building cars and is an expert in classic and vintage parts. The shop crews consists of a group of very experienced classic and vintage vehicle mechanics, body, paint and interior specialists.

We offer a very competitive shop rate of $55 USD per hour for all types of labor from mechanical to body, paint and interior. We have an extensive parts yard consisting of 10,000 plus pre-1970 vehicles and we also source new parts from many established suppliers. For parts and supplies ordered from outside suppliers and for special services such as machine shop work, we charge cost plus 10%.

We offer these restoration services to customers who have purchased their project vehicle from DesertClassics. Typically, it is possible to restore a decent #2 vehicle for between $30,000 and $40,000. This is assuming the core vehicle is more-or-less complete and rebuildable. Of course, special work and add-ons always increases the cost of the job.





In building a solid #2 car, we generally perform the following work:

1. Body: Body disassembled, repaired, sand blasted, and primered. Body is painted disassembled and assembled later on the chassis with all new rubber parts and replacement glass as needed.
2. Chassis: Repair and/or replace all mechanical parts as needed. Sandblast and paint chassis, suspension and power train.
3. Interior: The seats, door panels and dash (when needed) are re-upholstered. The seat cores are repaired or replaced when needed. We have sources for exact match restoration materials including carpet kits and headliner material, as well as many fine custom upholstery sections.
4. Chrome and trim: Chrome and trim are repaired as needed and replated as needed.
5: Assembly: The vehicle is reassembled, made operational and tested for correct functionality.

Production time from start to completion is between 8 to 18 months, depending on what has to be done.






Payments: We keep payments simple. We require $5,000 to start. We bill every 30 days and at that time, any balance over $5,000 is paid. When the first $5,000 is used up, another $5,000 is required and so on until the project is completed. All payments are made by wire transfer only. We manage the overall production, billing and finances. Every billing is accompanied by documentation photos of the work that has been completed..

This is an excellent and economical opportunity to have your project vehicle restored by true classic and vintage vehicle professionals. We limit the production to ten restoration projects and we are now filled to capacity. New projects will only be accepted as other projects are completed. Now is the time to get on the waiting list.
