This red 1926 Leyland Lioness Chara-Banc single deck right drive commercial convertible coach is a very nice older frame-off restoration bus ready to be put into service. It has a capacity of from 20 to 30 passengers. This bus was owned by Bradford Corporation of Yorkshire UK and used as a tour bus in England from 1926 to 1956. It was then retired and put into storage. In 1978, the company invested over 250,000 Britsh pounds completely rebuilding and restoring the bus. The chassis and engine work was done by S. Brunt Ltd of Neacastle, Staffs, England. The body work was completed by S. H. Wyatt Coach Builders Team of Stoke-On-Trent, England. The trim and upholstery was done by Stan Chilton, Coach Trimmer of Derby, England. The paint was completed by C. Simpson Coach Painters of Longston, Stoke-On-Trent, England. The restoration was completed in 1981. The bus was not put back into commercial service after the restoration. After the restoration, the coach was imported to the USA by an automotive publishing company, where is was on display in a museum. It was then purchased by my customer and has been in a private collection in Canada since that time. It was been driven short distances regularly over the years but has not been taken on any distance trips or put into commercial service. This bus has four loading doors on the left side. The first door allows boarding to the driver seat, front 1-2 passenger seat and second row 4-5 passenger seat. The second door allows access to the third 4-5 passenger row. The third door allows access to the left and right fourth and fifth row 1-2 passenger seats and the sixth row 4-5 passenger seat. The rear door provides access to the seventh row rear 4-5 passenger seat. This gives the bus a passenger capacity of 20 to 30 persons. The length of the bus is 28 feet. There is a little paint peeling on the left front fender and the rear left seam of the top is loose and needs to be repaired. Otherwise, the bus is in good serviceable condition. The bus is powered by a 6.8 liter 4 cylinder gas motor and 4 speed manual transmission. It has new tires. This is esentially a new bus and is perfect for a tour or transportation bus for a resort, hotel, guest ranch, tour company or private use.
